Lovely to see you!
Name: Arwen
Age: 21+
Location: east coast Australia
About Me: I'm a Scots-Australian linguistic major by day and a poet/writer/general wordwrangler by night, with a penchant for milky coffee and the best words in the best order. After seeing the toll that "traditional" publishing had on the person I love the most in the world, I've become a little leery of it and have dropped "being [properly] published" as a goal, but I don't judge anyone who does or wants to be at all! It's just not my cup of tea. My main goal is to get the majority of my projects online on my portfolio site and give readers the option of supporting me via donations or buying self-published (e)books (and audiobooks).
About My Journal: idle thoughts about writing, fandom, and daily life. Stuff of a slightly more personal nature is locked, but those posts tend to be infrequent so nobody is accidentally bored to death.
What I Write: confessional poetry, English-language tanka/haiku (and yes, I know that's technically not possible, but until I can come up with a better term...), urban fantasy, high fantasy, magical realism, and I've been working on a mahou-shoujo/xianxia project for the majority of my life. Everything I write tends to be unapologetically queer or embracing unconventional love on some level. ♥ (And I'm a slave to the Earn Your Happy Ending trope, I'll admit.)
What I Don't Write: I don't think there's anything I wouldn't at least attempt once, actually...🤔
What I Read: pretty much everything except instapoetry. Fiction, non-fiction, modern, historical, any genre, you name it. As long as a story can pull me in, that's what matters to me! However, I do have a particular penchant for dreamier kinds of introspective lit (Yoshimoto Banana and Murakami Haruki being two excellent examples) and high fantasy (doesn't even have to be quality! Show me a dragon and I'm gone.)
What I Don't Read: again, there's nothing really I go out of my way to avoid apart from instapoetry, but admittedly I do find myself less inclined to read non-queer fiction these days, but I wouldn't say that I eschew it outright or anything -- just that it'll always be pushed further down my to-read list than anything queer (or squint-and-it's-queer, if you know what I mean).
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: currently, only short pieces or fanfic under 7~10K words, due to health and offline commitments, but maybe this might change in the future!

Re: Thoughts
You sound pretty awesome, so I hope you don't mind my adding you :D
Re: Thoughts
The interesting thing about crowdfunding is its flexibility. You can do all kinds of different things with it. I wasn't sure it would work for me because my friends were doing it with serial fiction. But when I started doing the Poetry Fishbowls, it didn't take long for fans to start requesting returns of characters they loved. Now I have a huge pile of stuff. You kind of grow together with your audience and figure out what works for you.
I would say, poke around and look at many different crowdfunded projects. There are one-shot platforms like Kickstarter. There are regular venues like Patreon. There are people selling stuff on random other venues like me on Dreamwidth. Pretty much any creative thing you can imagine is on somebody's crowdfunding list.
