Quote from Anais Nin

Name: Destiny

Age: 26. Though I'll be 27 this year.

Location: Northern Louisiana

About Me: I started writing when I was around 10 years old though I'm sure I had always dreamed of doing it before then. I wrote intensely for awhile, but then I quit for almost ten years probably due to my ongoing battle with mental health issues. I picked writing back up in 2011 and excepting some interludes I've written steadily since then.

About My Journal: I use my journal as a sort of hodge podge of things. I've been known to post pictures (from selfies to paintings I'm viewing). I post a lot of music and my video post tag is usually used in conjunction with YouTube videos. They almost always have something to do with music. These days I use my journal to either analyze my relationships with the important people in my life or vent about the aforementioned mental health issues.

What I Write: My main output over the past months has been poetry. When I write fiction it's usually realism based. I like to write about relationships. These can include family, romantic, or friendship.

What I Don't Write: I don't really write journalism though it is something I would like to explore one day.

What I Read: Currently I've been reading a lot of nonfiction especially in relation to astrology, tarot, and numerology. My favorite genre is historical romance though I've been going through a bit of funk with it at the moment. I also love to read contemporary erotic romance.

What I Don't Read: I don't really read horror or science fiction though I would like to broach these genres one day.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I would like to think so. I've become more confident in my editing skills, but I have issues with reading longer works.

Name: Goldy

Age: Somewhere in the late twenties

About Me: Writing is one of the few hobbies that have always been a part of my life. I like way too many things and I am easily entertained so there are times when I jump from one fandom into another. Besides from fandoms I love history and musicals (returning topics in my writings too).

About My Journal: Most of the time I write about my writings and the ideas I have in my head. But you will always find the normal everyday entries here and random stuff like various questionairs, memes and so on. And this journal is still a backup of my livejournal account so there can be entries which are nearly the same (because I am not into crossposting).

What I Write: I am that kind of write that loves to write sad stories, whenever I have a good idea for one. In general I am mostly writing slash. Usually I write fanfictions but every now and then I also find myself working on something original.

What I Don't Write: School stories and stories about children (you know happy family stories).

What I Read: Thriller and crime, followed by everything about history.

What I Don't Read: Romantic books, love stories or as I like t say it "typical women's books". But also nothing about the topics where I don't write for.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes and I have done a lot of betareading a couple of years ago. It was a ot of fun but it was also the time where I wasn't that busy with my own writings so I could take my time and do it carefully.

Age: 28 (but I don't act my age)

Location: Arizona

About Me: I'm a very lovable person according to others. I get excited and hyperactive quite easily. I'm also a HUGE child at heart, and I tend to be quite childish and immature. Um... not sure what else to say because I suck at this. ;w;

About My Journal: My journal is mostly random musings, but I do go into disability stuff as I am disabled myself. I also fangirl at times, but I do try to keep it mostly to tumblr. Other stuff I write about have to do with my writing and what I'm working on.

What I Write: I write mostly disability fiction. I also like to write about romance and drama at most. I do have a horror/mystery story I've worked on in the past, but yeah... most of my stories deal with the main character having various disabilities such as autism.

What I Don't Write: Hm... I don't really like to write thrillers, action or anything else like that. I also don't like writing about rape or sex either. These things are basically my weakest points. ><;

What I Read: I love reading fantasy stuff. Like, omg. <3 I can't get enough of fantasy at all. I also like reading stories about disabilities and mental health as well. It's a shame that you don't see it very often though, at least not in an MC point of view.

What I Don't Read: Same as what I don't write.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Not really. I can't even edit my own work, and my skills in writing aren't very good as I'm self-taught. :c

About Me:  I am a retired English teacher who taught junior and senior high for over thirty years.  I became a teacher because I loved to read and I loved to write, and I loved working with adolescents.  Turns out that, while teaching, I had very little time to read or write for my own pleasure--so now that I am retired, I hope to make up for all that lost time.  I am most likely to write Young Adult fiction and Science Fiction/Fantasy.  I do have an occasional flirtation with Westerns.  Blame a childhood of watching shows like Wagon Train and Bonanza.

About My Journal: My journal is mostly about my life, the things that irritate me, the things I have accomplished, the things I hope to accomplish, occasional flights of fantasy, political rants, and other random things.

What I Write: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Young Adult "reality based" fiction, occasional Westerns, occasional dystopian stories, autobiographical stuff, occasional poorly drawn graphic stories, and pretty much anything that strikes my fancy at the time.

What I Don't Write: I don't write sloppy, stupid romance stories--or stories about sexy vampires or rapey fantasies, or anything that has references to "throbbing manhoods" and "quivering womanhoods."

What I Read: I read everything.  I prefer science fiction and fantasy (Robert A. Heinlein, J.R.R. Tolkien,  Ray Bradbury, Barbara Hambly, Arthur C. Clark, T.H. White, Robin McKinley, Stephen King, Ann McCaffrey, Ursula K. LeGuin, Lynn Abbey, Stephen Donaldson, Andre Norton, Robert Lynn Asprin, Cornelia Funke, Peter S. Beagle, Harlin Ellison, Terry Brooks, David Eddings,  Nancy Springer, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Jane Lindskold,  J.K. Rowling, Jane Yolen, Susan Cooper,  Mary Stewart, Charles de Lint, C.S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, Mercedes Lackey, Roger Zelazny, Margaret Atwood, and I am sure a ton of others I am not thinking of right now.  However, I read historical fiction, mysteries, philosophy, classics--I am a fiend for Shakespeare--especially McBeth! My favorite!  I love graphic novels.  I read a lot of Young Adult fiction--due mainly to my constant search for books that would speak to my students.  I have developed a taste for this genre, but I am very judgmental of authors whose adolescent characters bear no resemblance to living adolescents.  I enjoy biographies and autobiographies, and I really enjoy reading blogs as well.

What I Don't Read:  I hate sloppy romance novels/bodice rippers and nauseating supernatural romance novels.  I have been known to vomit at the sight of a Harlequin Romance.  While I like a good horror novel, I am not into gash and slash stories that are all about how many horrifying ways there are to make characters die.  I prefer a psychological horror.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I have nearly perfect skills--as I should, having taught English for 30+ years.

About Me:  My favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction. I've been on live journal and later dreamwidth since 2002. I'm in my forties, bi-polar, possibly ADD, identify as queer, and currently not sufficiently employed. I am a lurker by inclination and due to social malfunction. :D

About My Journal: It's part personal journal, part writing journal. I talk a lot about real life issues, my job hunt, previous jobs and my extremely on hold attempt to write content for content providers.  I also have a secondary writing journal that doesn't have a lot on it at the moment. Both journals have tip jars, and I've made a few attempts at affiliate marketing that didn't work very well because everyone is also broke. :D

What I Write: Original fic, fan fic, science fiction, fantasy, porn.  Meta, book reviews, long winded rants about writing and worldbuilding. (Mostly in the past, though I'd like to get back to that. I had a couple of years where I didn't write at all on dreamwidth because of Real Life Issues.)

What I Don't Write: I'm not sure I have a "what I don't write" just a "I'm less likely to write." For instance, I am really unlikely to write dystopias because dystopias are depressing and also kind of boring to me. I also won't write "angst," for pretty much the same reason!

What I Read: Fantasy, science fiction, some mystery, romance (fan fic that's pairing centric specifically.) Meta/Fandom/Science Fiction/Fantasy as-a-subject, non fiction/history/forensics/interesting stuff for research purposes.  When I was younger I had an extreme love of post-apocalyptic fiction of the "small group of survivors/road warrior" persuasion and also the Destroyer series, which was a campy semi-satirical White Dude Masters Secret Asian Martial Art And Is an Assassin series.

What I Don't Read:  There are specific writers that I won't read, more than genres I don't read. (I will say I have very low interest in horror, thrillers and action/adventure/romance that doesn't have a supernatural/science fiction element.)

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I can possibly point out style/word choice/mood/worldbuilding/plot better than I could proof read/correct grammar/spelling.

About Me: I'm really looking to make new friends on Dreamwidth! My own journal doesn't have much aside from self-indulgent things, and I can be terribly shy, but I'm very enthusiastic about the UI on Dreamwidth so I want more friends here. At the moment I'm enthusiastic about a movie which had an active fandom three years ago (welp), I'm very opinionated though I'm trying to be less abrasive about it, and sometimes I also webdesign but with questionable results.

About My Journal: It's mostly for fandom-related things that aren't fics, recs, or for others. The most interesting thing on it is probably my all time favorites rec list. I do have a Dreamwidth for actual journaling, but I keep up with my feed here and I want to spice up my flist.

What I Write: Fiction, romance, fanfiction of course. I really like mixing drama and humor; sometimes there's angst or friendship. I'm not very good at worldbuilding/sci-fi type things though, mostly because I don't think I have the practiced imagination for it.

What I Don't Write: I abide by the philosophy that I should try everything at least once. So so far I have not tried supernatural type stories or horror stories, although I definitely hope to one day.

What I Read: Everything! Well, am willing to, anyway. What I like to read is fantasy, YA, romance (LGBT especially), mystery, and of course comedy again.

What I Don't Read: Again, I don't think I really have the imagination for sci-fi. Although I do like Star Wars. But I haven't tried it very much, so if anyone has recs to get a noob like me into the genre...

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes, I can. I love editing.

I've been blogging since forever. I've had several LiveJournals, back when LiveJournal was "in." I prefer Dreamwidth, because it's lightweight and pink.

I boast a Tumblr with thousands of followers, but none of them talk to me, so I decided to return here for the few that will.

You can find my interests in my profile. I am a super artsy intellectual--a true Brooklyn hipster. Oh, and I'm a 28 year old male who's never been kissed. I stay in my room, avoiding sunlight to prevent aging so I can make up for lost time. One day.

About Me: I've been writing semi-seriously for almost ten years. Most of my focus has been on young adult and middle grade stories--children's books are what made me fall in love with reading, and even though I've read and loved plenty of adult fiction, I'll always keep coming back to them.

About My Journal: Not a whole lot of content up yet, but I'm planning to post mostly about books I've read, the shows I've watched, and hopefully my writing process. I've been in a bit of a creative rut for the last couple months and am slowly getting myself unstuck.

What I Write: Mostly YA and MG, mostly fantasy or horror. I love emotional stories with interesting characters and, usually, some element of creepiness involved.

What I Don't Write: I'm up to try anything, though you can probably expect most of it to be pretty genre-focused. I'm not all that great at writing more "literary" fiction.

What I Read: You can find a more detailed list over at my journal, but basically anything well-written, especially if it's fantasy, historical fiction, or contemporary. Some of my favorite authors are Megan Whalen Turner, Michael Buckley, S.E. Hinton, and Dorothy Allison.

What I Don't Read: Not really into erotica. Other than that, I'll try anything!

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Probably not at the moment, just because I don't have enough time. Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to read it! :)

About Me: I am more enthusiastic about plants than I am good at keeping them alive, I'd eat butter by the spoonful if I thought I could get away with it, and I can't sing but I'm pretty damned good at karaoke regardless. I used to be oh_simone on LJ, still oh_simone on ao3.

About My Journal: It's currently all old entries imported from LJ, but I'm hoping to ease back into a more sociable corner of fandom internet. I hope that DW will be a space for workshopping some writing projects, fan and orig.

What I Write: currently, mostly fanfic. None of my original stuff has ever seen light of day, but I've got bits and pieces of notes for just about everything-- some fantasy, mystery, family drama, historical, political intriguing.

What I Don't Write: I'm really terrible at and have little to no interest in writing sex scenes in general. Genre-wise, I'd never say never.

What I Read: A bit of everything. I particularly enjoy non-fiction food/travel writing, city histories, political intrigue, fantasy, and any character-driven books. I'm also a low-key sucker for Southern Gothic and true crime.

What I Don't Read: I find I generally like the ideas of sci-fi and mystery/thriller more than I like the executions. Also, anything about the white male mid-life crisis is almost always an automatic nope.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes! I would genuinely love to build up my own capabilities and experience as a beta/editor, so by all means.

Age: Older than I care to think about. I think I was in the first grade when the original Star Wars movie came out.

Location: Southeastern United States

About Me: What's to say? I've been messing around with computers since the very early 80s and using them for writing since at least 1982. I have a wide range of interests and I enjoy trying new things.

About My Journal: My journal is likely to be mostly just random thoughts and ramblings.

What I Write: Mostly science fiction and fantasy with forays into sundry other genres.

What I Don't Write: Hard to say. My tastes are eclectic and I'll experiment with all manner of styles, genres, and subjects.

What I Read: Science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, thrillers, horror, non-fiction, technical books, sciences. Generally I'll try anything at least once.

What I Don't Read: Contemporary political propaganda especially if evincing a rather narrow point of view whether I agree with that point of view or not. I am however perfectly happy to read political stuff from a hundred years ago or more.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I think so but I'm afraid I'm somewhat mediocre when it comes to editing for others mostly due to lack of experience.

Location: United States

About Me: I'm a twentysomething (obviously) writer (obviously) with vague aspirations of maybe publishing something someday somehow? I have a degree in Creative Writing from WKU in Kentucky. They named me Outstanding CW Major of the 2012 class, which baffles me to this day. (That isn't false modesty (she said, making it seem more like she was being falsely modest). I am genuinely surprised that they gave me that award.) I have a lot of interests outside writing and reading, but those have been two of my primary passions for much of my life.

About My Journal: Mostly general life updates, but since I've been writing a lot lately, that includes updates on how my latest writing venture (a lengthy TRON fanfic) is going! There may be snippets here and there, so keep a weather eye out. I am trying to update on the regular, but we'll see how long that lasts. I love to get comments, and I try to give them in return if I feel I have something to add to the conversation.

What I Write: Fanfiction, generally for sci-fi-ish fandoms. This is weird, because when I write original fiction, it tends to follow a fantasy bent. I've written modern fantasy, urbanish fantasy, historicalish fantasy... lots of fantasy. Most of it's been YA-focused as well, because I just think teenagers make for more interesting characters.

What I Don't Write: I seriously cannot imagine writing something without some element of the fantastical. I don't write romance very much because I have little experience in that arena and I just don't find it that interesting. Also since what I write is aimed at teenagers, I feel like they need to have more voices telling them that their story can be complete without a romantic counterpart.

What I Read: YA fantasy, regular YA, fantasy, sci-fi (need more of it in my reading diet), urban fantasy. Authors include: Robin McKinley, Tamora Pierce, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Garth Nix, Seanan McGuire, John Green, Maureen Johnson.

What I Don't Read: Contemporary or so-called "literary" fiction. Romance. Erotica of any kind. Very much fanfic at all, even though I write quite a bit of it. (I am vast; I contain multitudes, etc.) I can't stand love triangles.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Could, yes. Would... is another question entirely. I feel like I've got enough on my plate as it stands, unfortunately.

About Me: What about me? 25 year old queer cyber-witch, re-immersing herself in journaling as a practice and still piecing together my online writing community. I was on LJ as a young adult and I miss the vibe. I have deceptively little chill.

About My Journal: Mostly personal, but also some writing, and some talking about writing and books and TV. My day job in tech support and small electronics repair takes up a lot of my energy, and I got a few irons in the fire.

What I Write: Personal essays, poetry, genre fiction (read: fantasy, I guess!).

What I Want to Write: Romance, creative non-fiction, comics.

What I Read: Essays, poetry (I get like 10 poem-of-the-day emails), literally any fiction story with lesbians, a gaggle of web and print comics, newsletters about the future.

What I Want To Read: Better fiction stories with lesbians, and more nonfiction. I'm always down for good sci-fi and fantasy, and I have a soft spot for YA, as I suspect many folks do.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I'd love to.

About Me: Mother, writer, bellydancer, bookstore clerk (aw yissssss). Terrible housekeeper.

About My Journal: I'm sure I will post as rarely on dw as I did on lj, la. Back in the day I was a near daily blogger on wordpress, but having found most of my fellow IF Islanders on facebook, for me, daily blogging has gone the way of the dodo.

What I Write: For my original work, I write Science Fiction. For fanfiction, I've got a crazy long Sherlock WIP that I'm working on, as well as writing in Lewis. I wrote in X Files for many, many years. I do a lot of fanfic challenges, because challenges are fun.

What I Don't Write: Westerns. Modern fiction. Non-fiction.

What I Read: Well, I work in a bookstore, so It's more a question of what don't I read. For non-fiction: history, travel adventure, psychology, biography, politics, cookbooks. For fiction: science fiction, fiction, mystery, poetry. Authors I like: Diane Les Becquets (Breaking Wild is AMAZING), Erica Bauermeister, Ann Leckie, Susan R. Matthews, James S.A. Corey, James Alan Gardner, Tanith Lee, NK Jemison, Nicola Griffith, Tana French, Peter Robinson, Abraham Verghese, Sarah Waters, John Scalzi.

What I Don't Read: Well, I always say Romance, it's just that I prefer 19th Century ideas of Romance, which always contain a lot of tragedy. Westerns, epistlatory fiction, any book where the cover features a woman with her back to the reader, walking or running away. Authors: Jodi Picoult, JK Rowling, Kameron Hurley (just her fiction, I <3 her non-fiction).

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Hell to the yes. Genre does not matter.

What I Write: age range: mostly kidlit (MG/YA)

About me: I'm a gamer, artist and writer by hobby, an aircraft mechanic by trade. I'm open minded, passionate, caring and strong willed. I have a deep love and passion for English - hell, all language - and enjoy using my poetic style to construct thought provoking and emotion inducing works of art. I enjoy researching history, science but also the more hard to find and obscure canon archives of my favored fandoms. I like to find deeper meaning in curious, quirky things and hold a profound respect for the characters I write as, and by proxy a deep respect for their creators and writers.

About My Journal: Mostly I post about random snippets of what's going on in my life, occasionally I'll post one of my fictions here. I'd like to use my blog for roleplay but we'll see how it goes.

What I Write: Character muse based fiction, including anime, manga and video games. These genres include science fiction, horror, super natural, fantasy, drama, action and sometimes a hint of romance in the middle.

What I don't write: I'm not interested at all in writing Original Character work at this time. I have a very busy life between my career and social activities and I do not have the energy or time to create any real character traits or anything past general looks and maybe some motivations, perhaps a name. That, and I'm usually uncomfortable with smut. It's rare I will write it and I have to be very comfortable with the individual writing with me. That, or it needs to make sense to the plot.

What I read: Fiction, sci-fi, horror, and expressly thoughtful pieces. If it doesn't engage my brain, I'm not interested.

What I don't read: There's no nice way to say it, but I don't read badly written, thoughtless crap.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work:

About Me: I just finished my graphic design degree so I'm working on finding a new job- right now I'm a grocery store cashier and have been one for nine years. I write original fantasy stories. I always try to write novels but I admit I've never actually finished one. I also love photography, reading and watching movies. I'm a big Star Wars and Firefly fan.

I run a writing community, Worldsmyths. It focuses on the fantasy genre, but we welcome pretty much any kind of writer since it's so easy for the discussions we have to apply to any genre. It's been open since May and we have a small community of writers of varying ages and experiences.

I've been on Livejournal for, like, 15 years, though I didn't start getting active on there until around eleven years ago or so. With Russia moving Livejournal's servers, I've backed up my LJ onto Dreamwidth and am going to try and get into the habit of cross-posting from here over onto LJ.

About My Journal: Well the last two years, my entries were filled with a lot of things about school and the professor I had to deal with (he was basically the head of the department) and assignments and such. Besides that, I post about family, friends, SOMETIMES work, writing, Worldsmyths, and sometimes fandoms and maybe other things I'm not thinking of.

What I Write: Original fantasy in a medieval-type setting.

What I Don't Write: Historical fantasy (meaning that it may be a medieval-type setting but it's not necessarily historically accurate), sci-fi, modern fantasy, horror, erotica, fan fiction (I may eventually try writing Firefly fan fiction but I don't see that happening any time soon), non-fiction...probably some others I'm not thinking of.

What I Read: Fantasy. I have read young adult fantasy that takes place in the modern day world (i.e. Percy Jackson) but otherwise I prefer high fantasy/sword and sorcery-type fantasy with medieval-type settings (i.e. the type of setting Game of Thrones is in).

What I Don't Read: Erotica/pornography, fan fiction (if I get bored I'll read Firefly fan fiction, but I have to be really bored), horror, romance (I like stories with romantic elements but not, like, Danielle Steel-type romance), sci-fi (I have technically read Star Wars books in the past but I don't read it any more)...probably some others.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I could certainly attempt to, but it might be a slow process on my end.

If you have a Livejournal that you're still cross-posting to, it may be a good idea to make sure we're friends on there, as well.

Name: Kimi

Age: 28, but I don't act my age... be warned~

Location: Gold Canyon, Arizona

About Me: I am a child at heart who enjoys most child-like things. I never act my age, but that's mostly disability-related. I am also diagnosed with a high-functioning form autism. I started writing when I was in the fifth grade, but I didn't pick it up until my late teens or so. :3

About My Journal: There are times when I'll post about writing-related things, but it's mostly just random moments in my life!

What I Write: I write what I call disability fiction. Basically, I write about characters with disabilities and put them in tough situations where they have to deal with them and learn more about their lifestyles. :3

What I Don't Write: I don't really have a preference for things I don't write. It depends more on my mood and what I feel like writing. I can't name all of the genres I don't write either because that would take ages. XD

What I Read: I love, love, love to read anything related to mental health, disabilities and LGBT as well. These types of stories are inspiring for me, and they also help me gain more knowledge on how to write my own stories.

What I Don't Read: I don't read anything with huge stereotypes. I also don't read horror or anything related to gore or incest either.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Not really. I'm horrible at editing my own stories as it is, so it'd be even harder for me to edit someone else's work as well. :c

I hope I did this right. :c I also don't know what the tags are here. ;o;
