Name: Cris
Age: 41, and I've earned every year
Location:Pacific NW United States
About Me:I make things. I feel that making things and doing things are what makes a life lived. I write, I bead, I cook. I have strong opinions and am more naturally passionate than compassionate. So I've made it a point of character to be kind. I like to hear what others have to say, as long as it is thought out (and not parroting of someone else). I love conversation and discourse.
About My Journal:I rarely rant, so when I have a negative post -- typically friends-filtered and often not cross-posted -- it might seem to come out of the blue. Most of my journal is public. I crosspost to LJ and often "echo blog" across my blogspot blogs (one food, one writing), my Wordpress/website, DW, LJ, and tumblr. If I share on FB, I don't link directly to DW, LJ, or tumblr. I treat the interwebs like the real world: if I wouldn't say it aloud in a real world venue, I won't write it in the internet equivalent.
Lately I blog more about writing and fandom than other things. I'm doing a lot of writing. I'd love to talk about the craft with more people.
What I Write:My usual answer is "urban fiction," but that term has come to mean Dresden Files clones instead of Newford type worlds. I write stories where the characters are the whole point of the story, and sometimes that character is the city. Most recently I've been writing mystery short stories, fantasy, and science fiction. I write and enjoy fanfiction, too. I write poetry & short story, and I'm learning to write long form (novels).
What I Don't Write:romance, unless as a plotline in a genre setting with other things going on
What I Read & Don't Read:I don't reach for romance or erotica as a whole. I like literary, cross-genre works.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I'm part of a crit group. I have time management issues, but yes, I can give feedback if the stars align.
