Name: sparrow
Age: ~30
Location: Australia
About Me: Possibly overenthusiastic and always up to talk.
About My Journal: I'm still setting up so excuse the mess and lack of content, but there's going to be books and there's going to be writing and there's going to be some fandom stuff. (Just a note about the fandom stuff, but I'm late about 5 years on any given series/movie). Honestly I'm just keen to move on from Tumblr.
What I Write: Mostly character driven work -- people finding their place and where/who they want to be, found family, positive relationships in difficult circumstances, etc.
I also love playing with time, the concept of parallel universes bleeding into each other. I really dig throwing a thin layer of the paranormal across my writing and just messing around with that. Love me some spoopy. I guess that all could be shovelled under the SF blanket.
I'm fond of crime (give me a tumultuous relationship between a cop and a professional criminal and I'm there) and exploration (hollow world theory give me give me, also here for space!).
Also a fan of the various punks, here for all of them but I lean towards optimism and positivity more than anything else and will apply that readily.
Gonna toss this out there for anyone interested, but I'm always down for a joint 'verse/collaborative writing/casual RP. hmu.
What I Don't Write: Anything that doesn't involve the above mentioned, generally. I don't have many HS aged characters. Werewolves, vampires, etc, I don't work with often if at all. Romance as a focal point is not something I do either.
What I Read: I'm big on medical history and exploration, and have read a few books on those topics this year.
Fiction wise it really depends on what I'm feeling and sometimes that means I start three or four books before settling on something. I'm a fan of Anne Carson's work, and have stumbled onto Jane Rawson who I'm looking forward to reading more. Stephen Graham Jones is another author who I'm keen to read more on.
What I Don't Read: Not so big on YA or high fantasy.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I'm happy to beta if it's something I'm interested in and it isn't too long, and if I have the time!
Generally speaking, I'm down to talk about the mechanics of writing and telling you that you got this! Look, I just... really like to write and I'm probably too excited about it at any given moment, haha.
