Age: 32

Location: Southern Maryland, USA

About Me: I've been a blogger on Livejournal since the mid 2000's. Not too long ago, LJ's drastic changes have caused me to post more entries on DW than on my LJ account. I've been writing for so much longer than that... Ever since January of this year, I've been an activist. I've been paying attention to politics some. I am an Independent, and I support Voluntaryism. I strongly think and believe in individuality. I embrace it. I'm for guiding people to think for themselves, because that is so important! We're not meant to just accept things and be herded around like sheep. I am sickened by the collectivism agendas that are on-going. To keep myself from being bitter, or too frustrated, I use humor every now and then to mock all our oppressors, and media trolls.

I also post things about my life.

About My Journal: It's recently transformed into one of other places in which I share my beneficial knowledge. I also share some of my poetry, and even quotations of wisdom. I intend to be at least a little more active with this account.

What I Write: A lot of what I've written this year is political poetry, some of it being satire. I also have done a bit of misc. ones. If I can get back into story writing, then great! For now, it's just been poetry. I know I don't have to be as picky over those. (When it comes to all stories, I tend to be such a perfectionist at times.) It usually doesn't take me long to finish most of them. Sometimes, I write articles based on what I research.

What I Don't Write: erotica, not as much fanfic as I used to, misleading information... I don't write anything in support of TV news or politicians for instance.

What I Read: For much of this year, it's been nonfiction on truths about American Society, important information to know about history, what's been so wrong with public education, etc... I also have read a bit of fan-fiction, a bunch of sci-fi and fantasy, and certain authors such as James Patterson, Jeff Lindsay, Whitley Strieber, Gregory Maguire, and the Monk books (based on that funny old detective TV show) by Lee Goldberg.

I like getting to know new people. I hope to even help out at least some of you. Really, lol, my stuff don't stink! I'm a very thorough researcher, and I back up the facts with my own reasoning and common sense. ...Hey, if you'd like to see a really awesome website for all writers, then I highly recommend writing.com! I love it there. :D Many over there are really nice, and there's much to do.

Age: 20something

Location: Tokyo, Japan

About Me: I'm a twentysomething queerish girlwoman expatriate librarian-at-arms. I eat books and bleed poetry.
… er, that's what it says on the Twitter account that I admit to at work, but I'm writing this from a mattress on the floor and eating an ice cream in my pajamas on a Friday evening, in between shuffling my new tarot cards and watching trashy movies. (The Twitter account I don't admit to at work is [twitter.com profile] transpacifique.)

About My Journal: This is where I post any writing worth sharing. (If you're on LJ, my "journal"/diary is [livejournal.com profile] meepalicious.)

What I Write: I write stories for my friends. I love to co-write or share a 'verse and characters, so most of my recent work is collaborative stuff or my half of a story, or my characters' side of something. I like writing about ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances, or extraordinary people trying to live ordinary lives. I like fantasy (high and, especially, urban), historical, contemporary and, yes, romance. I like to write underrepresented queer romances; expect to see a lot of queer women, ménages à trois, gender nonconforming and/or asexual characters.
I'm an active participant in [livejournal.com profile] writerverse, so many of my stories are challenge responses. Sometimes I dabble in [community profile] rainbowfic.
I'm starting to dabble in poetry and creative nonfiction.

What I Don't Write: I don't write horror, smut, or hard sci-fi.

What I Read: I'm a children's librarian, so I read a lot of kidlit. Online, I'll read most anything, except for what I don't. (See below.) I like to read (and write) about happy, stable queer relationships, the kind of people  I might like to be friends with if I met them, and fuzzy warm feelings.

What I Don't Read: I don't read what I don't write, but I might make an exception for hard sci-fi.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Sure! I'm a bit rusty, but I used to spend hours a day copy and content editing for friends online. I would be happy to be a beta reader and critique partner; that's actually what I'm here for. I mean, I hope we will be friends, but I'd love to meet some creative collaborators!

Age: 24

Location: Pennsylvania, USA

About Me: Aspiring indie author. Raised in lower Delaware (if you don't know where that is, don't worry, most people don't) and currently living in Pennsylvania with my husband. I have a bachelors degree in history (my thesis was on the trial of the Lincoln assassination conspirators). I'm a little a eccentric, I suppose. My tastes are diverse. I collect postcards, lawn gnomes and fridge magnets. Whenever I travel I take my gnome, Hamish, with me. I love all kinds of genres of music (from swing to heavy metal), TV (Are You Being Served? to Castle), movies (Hitchcock's silent films to Joss Whedon's Avengers) and books (see below). I don't like coffee and prefer tea. I'm a Hufflepuff (we're great finders).

I'm looking for friends who are also writers and share the same goals, interests or genres as me.

About My Journal: I just started on my journal so it looks a little barren right now. As the weeks go now it will look less lonely. I plan to update with my writing stuff.

What I Write: Currently, I am working on a couple memoirs, flash fiction, and a few short stories that are set in modern day. I would love to write historical fiction, magical realism, alternative history or chaos theory in the future.

What I Don't Write: At the moment... erotica, mystery, thriller, children's and poetry. But things might change. I'm open to what genres I write.

What I Read: A lot of things! Media tie-in novels (think Doctor Who, Torchwood, etc), Biographies/Autobiographies/Memoirs, Classics, Humor, Children's, Young Adult, . Occasionally I will read Chick-Lit thought it is not my favorite. Some of my favorite authors are L. Frank Baum, Poppy Z. Brite (or Billy Martin), Agatha Christie, and Christopher Moore.

What I Don't Read: Things like Fifty Shades of Gray. It annoys me because the author is making money from fanfiction, and the one of the points of fanfitcion is not to make a profit from your work. Books that just right out lie about history but say that it's the truth like Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy both by Martin Dugard and Bill O'Reilly.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes, but please know that I am not a professional. I am also willing to just look over your work to tell you how it is (if it good or if it sucks).

Name: Mari
Age: 19
Location: A big country in South America.
About Me: Writer; feminist; social justice; music, internet, post-it notes and research addict; mild-OCD when it comes to organization; moderate ADHD; major depressive disorder; bookworm; internet; curious; critical thinker; outspoken.
About My Journal: It is a mix of things I like, mostly.

Public entries are either about writing in general—no big details on my original stuff—; about my ideas; about things I've read or seen; about things that interest me, such as technology, music, books, trips, writing, and writing meta; about things I see around DreamWidth.

I have no intention to make it a log of my personal life—which is what my filtered and access-locked entries are for.

Things that are locked:
·   Original writing — discussion, outlines, planning, general whining.
·   My daily life — what I'm up to on a personal level.

If we add each other, you will have access to both sides of my access list only, locked entries. If you don't want to read about my daily life, let me know and I can set up a writing-only filter.

What I Write: Romance. And poetry.
But I am open and willing to try anything at least once.
What I Don't Write: Nonfiction. I'm open to try just about any genre, as long as it is fiction.
What I Read: Everything. I'm especially fond of nice new adult—as in, university setting, etc—novels, fantasy series, historic books, and romance, be it young adult or adult-only. And fan fiction, I read some of it sometimes!
What I Don't Read: Um, there is nothing I wouldn't give at least a try, I guess.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: As English isn't my native language, I might not be comfortable being the sole editor for a writer's work in the grammar and spelling front, but I could definitely edit by myself if you want me to focus on characterization, pace, themes, tone, plot, and anything else in the same group.

I am mostly looking for writers to populate my circle, I feel lonely on my corner of the internet. :(

I'd like to have some active folks around, to comment on my entries, to help me in writerly matters, to chat about ideas, plots, characters. I'm looking for people who can relate to my writerly ways, who could maybe do some hand-holding. I would, of course, do the same—I'm online everyday, I try my best to comment at least in every other entry, I love discussing writing-related matters and am always, always up for a chat.

If I sound like someone you would like to have around, drop me a comment!

Name: Gabe

Age: Late 20's

Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA

About Me: Introvert, INTJ, I read and write voraciously, watch a small number of TV shows regularly (and far too much random Youtube crap), play videogames obsessively, gorge on politics until it becomes too depressing and I have to look at kittens, and repost far too much dreck on my Tumblog.

About My Journal: I'm not very active, although I'm trying to change that. (I say this all the time.) I tend to post articles I find interesting, funny or necessary, little bits and blobs that I need to purge from my brain, and bits and pieces of my work that feel finished.

What I Write: My two main projects fall under the broad category of speculative fiction. Universe Lost could be called soft sci-fi, and Ghost Sight is pretty definitely urban fantasy. I have a side-project that's post-apocalyptic, but I'm having trouble making it work. In general I stick to fantasy/sci-fi with horror mixed in.

What I Don't Write: Poetry, because I'm terrible at it. Modern lit, because there aren't any spaceships or wizards. Comedy, because I'm only ever funny by accident. I may or may not write fanfic, but I'll never post it.

What I Read: Fantasy, sci-fi, horror, modern lit, non-fiction on just about any subject.

What I Don't Read: Memoirs and auto/biographies of politicians. The rhetoric is already thick enough, I don't need to go diving into the sludge.

This all sounds incredibly formal because a) these things always make me nervous and b) I've been mainlining BBC's Sherlock and English mannerisms are leaking into my brain.
