Name: Rick
Age: Almost 50
Location: Shanghai, China
About Me:Nerdy American expat teaching high school chemistry at an international school in Shanghai, China. Sharing my adventures with my wife and son, and our cat.
About My Journal: I was a longtime on-and-off LJ user. I haven't done very much on this journal, but I'm hoping to be posting more original content here as time goes on.
What I Write: I've written SF, fantasy, and horror short stories, and have had about half a dozen published in small anthologies. I have a couple of novels in the works; the one I'm currently focusing on is a middle-grade steampunk fantasy story set in an alternative universe version of Southeast Asia. I also write a lot of reviews. I review all the books I read, and I also have a comic book review blog. I link my reviews here in a weekly recap post.
What I Don't Write: I don't write fanfic, and I am more comfortable writing middle-grade style material rather than more R-rated fare (although I've gone there occasionally when writing horror).
What I Read: I'll read almost anything! I read a wide variety of books, and I also have a big stack of comics I'm constantly working my way through. I review books I read on my own, plus a lot of childrens books I read with my son.
What I Don't Read: I read more traditional paper books than ebooks or online reading. I don't usually read fanfic, mostly because I'm a pretty casual consumer when it comes to most fandoms out there.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I consider myself a pretty good editor, but my time tends to be fairly limited. I'd be open to trading critiques or beta reading if the circumstances were right.
