About me: I'm a gamer, artist and writer by hobby, an aircraft mechanic by trade. I'm open minded, passionate, caring and strong willed. I have a deep love and passion for English - hell, all language - and enjoy using my poetic style to construct thought provoking and emotion inducing works of art. I enjoy researching history, science but also the more hard to find and obscure canon archives of my favored fandoms. I like to find deeper meaning in curious, quirky things and hold a profound respect for the characters I write as, and by proxy a deep respect for their creators and writers.

About My Journal: Mostly I post about random snippets of what's going on in my life, occasionally I'll post one of my fictions here. I'd like to use my blog for roleplay but we'll see how it goes.

What I Write: Character muse based fiction, including anime, manga and video games. These genres include science fiction, horror, super natural, fantasy, drama, action and sometimes a hint of romance in the middle.

What I don't write: I'm not interested at all in writing Original Character work at this time. I have a very busy life between my career and social activities and I do not have the energy or time to create any real character traits or anything past general looks and maybe some motivations, perhaps a name. That, and I'm usually uncomfortable with smut. It's rare I will write it and I have to be very comfortable with the individual writing with me. That, or it needs to make sense to the plot.

What I read: Fiction, sci-fi, horror, and expressly thoughtful pieces. If it doesn't engage my brain, I'm not interested.

What I don't read: There's no nice way to say it, but I don't read badly written, thoughtless crap.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work:
Yes, I'm sure I could. I'm quite the beta and a bit of a grammar nazi. But do I have the time? No. No, not at all.

Below are a list of my current fandoms and muses just for added information:
Hopefully that's okay...

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I don't mind beta reading when I have time, although I am currently working hard on my own novel and don't have time at the moment.
jediknightmuse: By <lj user="jediknightmuse"> (Firefly)
[personal profile] jediknightmuse
Name: Ally/Jedi Knight Muse

Age: 30 until February 14th. :|

Location: Connecticut, USA

About Me: I just finished my graphic design degree so I'm working on finding a new job- right now I'm a grocery store cashier and have been one for nine years. I write original fantasy stories. I always try to write novels but I admit I've never actually finished one. I also love photography, reading and watching movies. I'm a big Star Wars and Firefly fan.

I run a writing community, Worldsmyths. It focuses on the fantasy genre, but we welcome pretty much any kind of writer since it's so easy for the discussions we have to apply to any genre. It's been open since May and we have a small community of writers of varying ages and experiences.

I've been on Livejournal for, like, 15 years, though I didn't start getting active on there until around eleven years ago or so. With Russia moving Livejournal's servers, I've backed up my LJ onto Dreamwidth and am going to try and get into the habit of cross-posting from here over onto LJ.

About My Journal: Well the last two years, my entries were filled with a lot of things about school and the professor I had to deal with (he was basically the head of the department) and assignments and such. Besides that, I post about family, friends, SOMETIMES work, writing, Worldsmyths, and sometimes fandoms and maybe other things I'm not thinking of.

What I Write: Original fantasy in a medieval-type setting.

What I Don't Write: Historical fantasy (meaning that it may be a medieval-type setting but it's not necessarily historically accurate), sci-fi, modern fantasy, horror, erotica, fan fiction (I may eventually try writing Firefly fan fiction but I don't see that happening any time soon), non-fiction...probably some others I'm not thinking of.

What I Read: Fantasy. I have read young adult fantasy that takes place in the modern day world (i.e. Percy Jackson) but otherwise I prefer high fantasy/sword and sorcery-type fantasy with medieval-type settings (i.e. the type of setting Game of Thrones is in).

What I Don't Read: Erotica/pornography, fan fiction (if I get bored I'll read Firefly fan fiction, but I have to be really bored), horror, romance (I like stories with romantic elements but not, like, Danielle Steel-type romance), sci-fi (I have technically read Star Wars books in the past but I don't read it any more)...probably some others.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I could certainly attempt to, but it might be a slow process on my end.

If you have a Livejournal that you're still cross-posting to, it may be a good idea to make sure we're friends on there, as well.

Age: 28, but I don't act my age... be warned~

Location: Gold Canyon, Arizona

About Me: I am a child at heart who enjoys most child-like things. I never act my age, but that's mostly disability-related. I am also diagnosed with a high-functioning form autism. I started writing when I was in the fifth grade, but I didn't pick it up until my late teens or so. :3

About My Journal: There are times when I'll post about writing-related things, but it's mostly just random moments in my life!

What I Write: I write what I call disability fiction. Basically, I write about characters with disabilities and put them in tough situations where they have to deal with them and learn more about their lifestyles. :3

What I Don't Write: I don't really have a preference for things I don't write. It depends more on my mood and what I feel like writing. I can't name all of the genres I don't write either because that would take ages. XD

What I Read: I love, love, love to read anything related to mental health, disabilities and LGBT as well. These types of stories are inspiring for me, and they also help me gain more knowledge on how to write my own stories.

What I Don't Read: I don't read anything with huge stereotypes. I also don't read horror or anything related to gore or incest either.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Not really. I'm horrible at editing my own stories as it is, so it'd be even harder for me to edit someone else's work as well. :c

I hope I did this right. :c I also don't know what the tags are here. ;o;

Name: Jilly, Cloud, whatever you want to call me

Age: 32

Location: Midwest USA

About Me: Mom, wife, introvert, gamer, reader, watcher of random television. I'm pretty laid back and like a lot of things and fandoms and try to keep my life as simple and stress free as possible. I welcome people of all walks of life.

About My Journal: My journal has been cleaned out and made new. I'm migrating over from LJ, and I'm looking for friends who are interested in the same things as me.

What do I post? It's a mix. I try to update every day just to keep myself sane, so I write a lot about my day, how it's going, and the struggles of trying to be a full time writer. I write A LOT about the writing process. A LOT. I also put up my daily task lists for my own reference so I don't forget things, because I'm one of those people who has to write it down five times in order to get it done. I would be willing to share my work under filters to those interested, as well, but haven't done that in a while.

What I Write: Science fiction and fantasy, for the most part. I am known to experiment and try out all kinds of new things with my books (styles, genres, etc.). I dabble in other genres as well. Kind of wherever the muse leads me.

What I Don't Write: erotica. For now. This could change someday. Who knows.

What I Read: Everything? Seriously, I'll read everything.

What I Don't Read: See above.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes, to a point. I'm good at content editing. I can tell you what's working plotwise and what isn't. I try to be as constructive as possible, so I would never tell anyone they sucked, etc.

Name: Fictionish

Age: 32

Location: East Coast USA

About Me: I'm a techie by night (shift) and an introverted writer by day. I'm owned by cats, obsessed with anything peppermint flavoured, a tea drinker and a gamer.

About My Journal: Trying to make it/keep it a mix of real world, fandom and world-building notes and information. I did just start my journal so there's not much there right now but I've been doing the journal/blog game since 2001 on LJ so I'm not new to it.

What I Write: Speculative fiction is a really broad term but my writing has Knights, multiple dimensions, technology, airships, probably space flight and an assortment of other features that puts it firmly between science fiction and fantasy. I do both/either pretty interchangeably.

What I Don't Write: Realistic historical fiction? I will try my hand at anything.

What I Read: What I write plus YA and more adult themes, I'm pretty flexible and love reading about other people's worlds and writing processes!

What I Don't Read: There are probably some things that trigger my squick factor but I can't think of them at the moment?

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I probably am not a premier editor, but I definitely could read for spelling, grammar, cohesion, etc.

Name: Marianne (Mari for short if you prefer)

Age: 32

Location: Southern Maryland, USA

About Me: I've been a blogger on Livejournal since the mid 2000's. Not too long ago, LJ's drastic changes have caused me to post more entries on DW than on my LJ account. I've been writing for so much longer than that... Ever since January of this year, I've been an activist. I've been paying attention to politics some. I am an Independent, and I support Voluntaryism. I strongly think and believe in individuality. I embrace it. I'm for guiding people to think for themselves, because that is so important! We're not meant to just accept things and be herded around like sheep. I am sickened by the collectivism agendas that are on-going. To keep myself from being bitter, or too frustrated, I use humor every now and then to mock all our oppressors, and media trolls.

I also post things about my life.

About My Journal: It's recently transformed into one of other places in which I share my beneficial knowledge. I also share some of my poetry, and even quotations of wisdom. I intend to be at least a little more active with this account.

What I Write: A lot of what I've written this year is political poetry, some of it being satire. I also have done a bit of misc. ones. If I can get back into story writing, then great! For now, it's just been poetry. I know I don't have to be as picky over those. (When it comes to all stories, I tend to be such a perfectionist at times.) It usually doesn't take me long to finish most of them. Sometimes, I write articles based on what I research.

What I Don't Write: erotica, not as much fanfic as I used to, misleading information... I don't write anything in support of TV news or politicians for instance.

What I Read: For much of this year, it's been nonfiction on truths about American Society, important information to know about history, what's been so wrong with public education, etc... I also have read a bit of fan-fiction, a bunch of sci-fi and fantasy, and certain authors such as James Patterson, Jeff Lindsay, Whitley Strieber, Gregory Maguire, and the Monk books (based on that funny old detective TV show) by Lee Goldberg.

I like getting to know new people. I hope to even help out at least some of you. Really, lol, my stuff don't stink! I'm a very thorough researcher, and I back up the facts with my own reasoning and common sense. ...Hey, if you'd like to see a really awesome website for all writers, then I highly recommend writing.com! I love it there. :D Many over there are really nice, and there's much to do.

What I Don't Read: Chicklit, RL stuff. I get enough of that in RL!

About My Journal: Largely a personal blog, so frequent ramblings about whatever I'm writing at the moment, fannish stuff, and just whatever's happening in my life.

What I Write: Dabbled a bit in everything, but primarily SF/fantasy, often queer.

What I Don't Write: Poetry, largely.

What I Read: Again, a bit of everything. Currently: slogging my way through A Song of Ice and Fire, reading all of Sarah Waters' novels in chronological order (just finished Fingersmith and seeing her at a book festival later in the month, eee), doing a 2014 reading bingo, and reading every interesting-sounding translation of Euripides' Hippolytus I can get my hands on. On my to-read shelf atm is Gormenghast and a selection of classic SF novels I feel like I ought to read. I have a Goodreads!

What I Don't Read: What doesn't interest me. Not so much into non-fiction, horror, crime and romance but will dabble if it comes recommended.

About Me: Jill of all trades, mistress of some? Four cats. Married. Work part time at a college. Going to grad school in the fall. Left leaning feminist. Cook, baker, candlestick maker (okay, I haven't tried that yet). I'm trying to teach myself guitar. I'm a gamer (I don't do MMOs). I have too many hobbies and distractions and that leads to my being a procrastinator. Currently mildly obsessed with: Supernatural, Dishonored, Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim.

About My Journal: I've been absent for a while, because I live on a variety of social media. I grew upon Livejournal and moved over to DW about the time I stopped blogging quite as much. But I've recently consolidated my main and fanfiction journals, so I'll probably be posting more often.

What I Write: What I like. Dark fantasy, urban fantasy, with the occasional jaunt into other genres (particularly horror, erotica). I write original fiction as well as fanfiction (I'm a slasher and a shipper but no, I don't do shipwar bull). My original fiction (that I share) mostly ends up on blogger (I link to it).

What I Don't Write: Westerns. Um...crime? General fiction or "literary." (Sometimes this changes.)

What I Read: A little bit of everything. Fantasy, horror, non-fiction, literature classics.

What I Don't Read: Westerns, crime/legal/thriller type stuff, high fantasy. (Sometimes this changes.)

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: If I have time (so, the shorter the work the more likely I can give you an assist). My undergrad is in English. But don't let that freak you out. I'm not going to smack you with a ruler if you misspell something and I break the rules of grammar often.

About Me: I'm a twentysomething queerish girlwoman expatriate librarian-at-arms. I eat books and bleed poetry.
… er, that's what it says on the Twitter account that I admit to at work, but I'm writing this from a mattress on the floor and eating an ice cream in my pajamas on a Friday evening, in between shuffling my new tarot cards and watching trashy movies. (The Twitter account I don't admit to at work is [twitter.com profile] transpacifique.)

About My Journal: This is where I post any writing worth sharing. (If you're on LJ, my "journal"/diary is [livejournal.com profile] meepalicious.)

What I Write: I write stories for my friends. I love to co-write or share a 'verse and characters, so most of my recent work is collaborative stuff or my half of a story, or my characters' side of something. I like writing about ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances, or extraordinary people trying to live ordinary lives. I like fantasy (high and, especially, urban), historical, contemporary and, yes, romance. I like to write underrepresented queer romances; expect to see a lot of queer women, ménages à trois, gender nonconforming and/or asexual characters.
I'm an active participant in [livejournal.com profile] writerverse, so many of my stories are challenge responses. Sometimes I dabble in [community profile] rainbowfic.
I'm starting to dabble in poetry and creative nonfiction.

What I Don't Write: I don't write horror, smut, or hard sci-fi.

What I Read: I'm a children's librarian, so I read a lot of kidlit. Online, I'll read most anything, except for what I don't. (See below.) I like to read (and write) about happy, stable queer relationships, the kind of people  I might like to be friends with if I met them, and fuzzy warm feelings.

What I Don't Read: I don't read what I don't write, but I might make an exception for hard sci-fi.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Sure! I'm a bit rusty, but I used to spend hours a day copy and content editing for friends online. I would be happy to be a beta reader and critique partner; that's actually what I'm here for. I mean, I hope we will be friends, but I'd love to meet some creative collaborators!

About Me:
Well, I am diagnosed with autism and ADHD, along with other things as well. I love anime, and my current obsession is K-On. I also use writing to express myself, which comes in handy for me a lot. Oh, and I'm obsessed with music too! As for my writing, I've been doing it off and on since the fifth grade. I picked up again not long ago and started writing my own creations. If you want to know more about me, just ask or check my profile. :3

About My Journal:
I usually blog about everything. I do post some writing stuff once in a while though. ^^

What I Write:
Original Fiction. I also wrote stuff about characters, usually female, with disabilities like autism. I also like writing about romance and using me & my bf as characters as well as with my close friends.

What I Don't Write:
Hm. Well, I definitely don't write anything I'm not familiar with, that's for sure.

What I Read:
I don't really read much because of my poor reading comprehension. However, I do enjoy writing mostly fantasy, paranormal and science-fiction. I can be very picky about what I read though.

What I Don't Read:
Well, I won't read anything I'm not interested in. I also won't write anything that's super thick either. It tends to overwhelm me a lot.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Probably not. I have several disabilities that make it harder for me to understand such things. :/

kevindolenz: (Default)
[personal profile] kevindolenz
Name: Liz
Age: 23
Location: Cleveland, OH (USA)

About Me: Journalist, designer, creative type, non-MMO/text roleplayer, feline fan, booze drinker, binge-watcher, compulsive reader, music enthusiast, native Arkansan, reserved but sarcastic personality

About My Journal: I'm back to online journaling after a four to five-year absence. I spent most of my formative years using Livejournal and Greatestjournal on various accounts, most of which was personal writing. My DW page follows suit, but it will likely feature prompt submissions or fandom-related writing at a later date.

What I Write: Given my experience with roleplaying, most of my writing is descriptive and character-driven. I seldom write fanfiction that involves canonical characters, so OCs are a big thing with me in the sci-fi/horror/fantasy realm. The material that doesn't fit into those genres is personal and/or about music, the latter of which is written in a journalistic style.

What I Don't Write: Romance. I am open to threading a love story through a more complex plotline, but I never write fics or original stories where a relationship is the focal point. I'm also not enthusiastic about ships/OTPs because I feel they swallow better parts of a saga.

What I Read: Rob Sheffield, Philip K. Dick, J.G. Ballard, Haruki Murakami, Lester Bangs, Ray Bradbury, Sylvia Plath, Sarah Vowell, Patti Smith -- I'm really into dark/existential sci-fi at the moment (The Atrocity Exhibition is one of my all-time favorites), but my tastes are extremely varied.

What I Don't Read: Westerns, romance and high fantasy. I don't enjoy reading novels and stories with plots that are too removed from reality. This does not mean I dislike fantastic elements; I'm just not into worlds that are entirely mythical.

Edit?: It really depends on the content. I served as managing editor for my college newspaper, so most of my editorial knowledge is based on media law and Associated Press style. I'd like to think I'm knowledgable about what's good and what's bad in creative writing, but I think I'd need an overview/synopsis of the work in question before agreeing to edit it.

About Me: I've been creating stories for as long as I can remember. My earliest written work was from 2002, when my uncle was trying to get me to write something everyday to improve my then-horrible printing. It was a story about two cats and their owners who eventually fell in love (so cliche don't even). Outside of the general theme of literature, I enjoy history (1800s-1900s), design (interior, mostly), and food. I love food, and I love cooking for people. I'm only really good at soups and sandwiches, though. Can't say what I cook looks all that great, but it tastes good. I also really love looking at photo and art galleries. I spend a lot of time on image bookmarking sites like ffffound, reform, we♥it, etc.
About My Journal: A mix of dairy and written work. Some screenshots from playing video games, and some photos from my instagram. But 80% writing.
What I Write: speculative fiction, freeverse poetry, mystery, horror and gore. Romance. Sometimes I just write fluff, but I enjoy thick atmospheres the most, where there is a bigger picture happening and what I'm showing you right now is only a teeny-tiny bit of it. I used to be really into longass chapters and these really super lengthy plots. But I think I've shortened quite a bit since then. I've developed a pretty strong taste for vignettes and other forms of short fiction. edit: just made a writing journal. it's called ethosa.
What I Don't Write: sex. I mean the descriptive kind of erotica. I'll grace over scenes like that, but mostly for my reader's comfort. Oh, and I don't write action scenes very well.
What I Read: Exactly what I write. I love space and stuff. I love reading weird things, but still make sense in their own quirky way.
What I Don't Read: I hate storylines that are weird and "out there" just for the sake of being different or unique. And trust me, it's really easy to tell. Those kinds of things are just trash, ugly garbage.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Yes. I could. If they ask nicely C:

[personal profile] butterflydreaming
Name: Cris

Age: 41, and I've earned every year

Location:Pacific NW United States

About Me:I make things. I feel that making things and doing things are what makes a life lived. I write, I bead, I cook. I have strong opinions and am more naturally passionate than compassionate. So I've made it a point of character to be kind. I like to hear what others have to say, as long as it is thought out (and not parroting of someone else). I love conversation and discourse.

About My Journal:I rarely rant, so when I have a negative post -- typically friends-filtered and often not cross-posted -- it might seem to come out of the blue. Most of my journal is public. I crosspost to LJ and often "echo blog" across my blogspot blogs (one food, one writing), my Wordpress/website, DW, LJ, and tumblr. If I share on FB, I don't link directly to DW, LJ, or tumblr. I treat the interwebs like the real world: if I wouldn't say it aloud in a real world venue, I won't write it in the internet equivalent.

Lately I blog more about writing and fandom than other things. I'm doing a lot of writing. I'd love to talk about the craft with more people.

What I Write:My usual answer is "urban fiction," but that term has come to mean Dresden Files clones instead of Newford type worlds. I write stories where the characters are the whole point of the story, and sometimes that character is the city. Most recently I've been writing mystery short stories, fantasy, and science fiction. I write and enjoy fanfiction, too. I write poetry & short story, and I'm learning to write long form (novels).

What I Don't Write:romance, unless as a plotline in a genre setting with other things going on

What I Read & Don't Read:I don't reach for romance or erotica as a whole. I like literary, cross-genre works.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I'm part of a crit group. I have time management issues, but yes, I can give feedback if the stars align.

About Me: I've wanted to write ever since I was young but never had the guts to pursue it right out of school.  I went into accounting instead, and spent three miserable years in public accounting before I realized enough was enough.  Now I work from home as a bookkeeper and spend my spare time thinking about writing and not actually writing very much XD  This blog, separate from my fandom blog, is my desperate attempt to have a writing life that does not revolve around Harry Potter characters.  In my spare time, when not agonizing over my writing, I like to sew, listen to audio books, and write people typewritten letters.

About My Journal: As mentioned above, my journal is an effort to focus on writing.  I post little snippets of original fic, little snippets of fanfic that I don't want the general fandom to see, musings about the writing process, and basically any other thoughts I have in regards to writing.  There will be lists of things to remember about characters, brainstorms for plot, and ramblings about random things.  I'm trying to read more, so I'll probably write about books that I read, as well.

What I Write:  Right now, mostly slash fanfiction.  In terms of original fiction, I'd like to write romance, specifically gay or lesbian romance.  I'd like to write fantasy as well.  I'm interested in futuristic fantasy and alternate universe historical fantasies.  I like queer characters.  I also like erotica, so I'll probably have some of that in any story I write.

What I Don't Write: I don't think I'd be particularly good at mysteries, and I'm a bit too intimidated by sci-fi, though I think I will dabble a little bit in that, if there are fantasy elements as well.  I don't write non-fiction, either.

What I Read: Not so much, lately.  But I do plan to read more, now that I have time.  I read a lot of slash fanfiction from HP fandom.  I re-read a lot of old things I like, mostly.  I'm a big fan of Georgette Heyer's regency era romances.  I like Neil Gaiman, Tamora Pierce, Jane Austen, Italo Calvino, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Dorothy Sayers.  I read manga, as well.  My favorite manga are, in no particular order: From Eroica With Love, Yotsuba&, Saiyuki, anything by Fumi Yoshinaga or Naono Bohra, Wandering Son, Viewfinder, Petshop of Horrors, Aoi Hana.  I collect writing books, and I read those, as well.

What I Don't Read: Really fluffy fanfiction, Stephanie Meyers, E.L. James, Harlequin-esque romances.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I could edit for basic spelling & grammar, and maybe make suggestions about structure and pacing.  I'd be happy to help edit anyone's original fic, or fanfiction if I'm familiar with the fandom =)

About Me: Teaching Major. Girlfriend. Sister. Blogger. Math Conqueror, I deal a lot with Chronic pain and I talk about it excessively.

About My Journal: It is a mix of every day blogging and I post parts of my stories in it.

What I Write: Fantasy, mostly lesbian characters and female dominated.  I am on figment and wattpad , too.

What I Don't Write: Fanfiction

What I Read: Nothing overly gross/gory. Also I am not really sure about reading fan fic. If I can follow it as a non-fan then okay.

What I Don't Read: is when i don't have any time to read or do anything that is enjoyable.

Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: I try to point out where your character without reason is somehow walking on the ceiling or having her heart beating on top of her chest rapidly, instead of in her chest rapidly (Unless it's some gore fest story, then why the hell am I reading it anyway?). Spelling and that's really all I am qualified to do.

If you need extra eyes proofreading and want to add me for this purpose only:
1. Notify me of *what* you want read -- I am not going to read all your stuff in hopes that I am proofreading what you want.
2. I do not read through things at the drop of a hat. I am a college student and Spoonie (translation: I do everything fucking slow)
3. I do not read anything gory
4. Don't demand anything from me. I will get to it when I get to it as I am doing this for free. And, I won't rush you if you willingly proofread my stuff. Though I will try to send you updates on what I proofread or whatever so you don't just think I've abandoned ya.
5. Must being willing to proofread what I write as well. Dun dun dunnn.
6. I am on Pain medication 100% of the time which makes doing all of this even slower. However, when proofreading someone else's stuff I take out the time when I am not going to be out of it to do it. So I am not going to send you back this mess.

Just want to add (in regards to editing): I write medicated (pain meds) -- so I am not sure if you add me and are willing to edit/proofread what struggle this is going to be for you. When I mean "I write medicated" is that I write when I am heavily affected by the medication so I am not up to editing it myself/usually go lay down right after that sort of thing. I try to read through stuff before posting but it's a bit iffy at times.
