Name: Larisa
Age: 29
Location: Norwich, CT, USA
About Me: Fandom is my hobby. I've hung on with both hands since I was a teenager, and where I've taken a break here and there, I always find my way back to it. It's a nice spot to unwind and express myself. It's also where I've taught myself to write, and I owe my skill level to years of tenacious fanfic writing and online friends who have supported me over the years.
About My Journal: There's no rhyme or reason to what I post. Sometimes it's RL stuff. Sometimes fandom stuff. Sometimes it's whatever I'm reading, watching, or playing. Sometimes it's passing thoughts. I don't feel comfortable pinning any one thing to it, so I won't.
What I Write: My genres of choice tend to be M/M romances and introspective work, dealing with topics such as mental illness, death, spirituality, fear of the unknown, and coming together despite all of the above. You can think of me as an optimist with a dark sense of humor. I love a happy ending after a long slog through hell more than anything. That's just original work. As for fanfiction, I'm mostly writing South Park fic. I haven't felt very driven to participate in any other fandom lately.
What I Don't Write: I don't tend to deal with a character's external world so much as their internal one, so you won't see me get into fantastically detailed Scifi/Fantasy settings with complex world building. I don't have a mind for small details, and have given up projects midway because of that. I don't consider it a waste, though. I had to teach myself how to place SOME amount of detail in my stories, and I have. I also don't write graphic sex very often.
What I Read: Oh, a little bit anything and everything that catches my eye, pretty much. YA, dystopia, horror, mindblowing things, fairy tales, short stories, classics, LGBT fiction. I read just as much non-fiction. A lot of books on psychology and self-help, and tongue-in-cheek stuff about self-help, as I take that entire genre with a grain of salt. Books on writing. Short stories written by people around the world. Relevant political events, of a left-wing slant, I suppose (I won't read things written by our current GOP and those who support them. I refuse.) Spiritual philosophy. I've been reading snippets of the Tao Te Ching since rereading the Tao of Pooh, and I'm also reading a book called "If the Buddha Dated" just because I was curious. That's usually why I read whatever I read. I mean, isn't that true of anyone really?
What I Don't Read: Most mainstream stuff, though I've made exceptions. I do like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Stephen King, but that's pretty much it. Or all I can think of at the moment. Also, again, if it was written/ghost written by the GOP, keep it far away from me. I don't need to lose my lunch right now.
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work: Sure. Just ask. The worst I can say is no.
